We are recruiting on behalf of our client within the telecommunications industry for a SAFe Scrum Master to work on site for our client representing ij. You will be working alongside a number of stakeholders across the business and will be involved in making sure key strategic transformation projects are being delivered. Ideally you will have agile experience and be comfortable working in an ITIL framework. Telecoms experience is essential.

The role:

The Enterprise Products & Services organisation is radically transforming and digitising its systems and processes to give our clients customers best in class solutions. The vehicle for change is a SAFe programme team of nine scrums setup to succeed and drive change in a constantly changing environment. As part of our client’s transformation into delivering more business value through agile, we are growing our SAFe / Agile delivery team capability. As delivery scrum master, the role is to coach and guide teams on Agile best practises, achieve their sprints and release goals. This role will be managing the Scrum for data engineering, data warehousing and visualisation using the SAP and Oracle product suit.

As SAFe Scrum Master you will fill an essential role on the team by acting as the team’s servant leader, coach and facilitator. As Scrum Master you will also be involved with the below:

  • Assure that the team follows the rules of Scrum and SAFe
  • Help the team meet their daily and iteration objectives
  • Work to remove impediments in the organisation for the team to deliver against objectives or escalate appropriately
  • Manage the teams’ relationships with outside stakeholders
  • Facilitates team continuous improvement
  • Coordinates solution implementation and delivery with other Scrum Masters on the Release Train.
  • Facilitate key ritual and ceremonies
  • Engage with Product Owners
  • Coach and mentor the team within the Scrum principles in order to deliver high quality features and products.
  • Promote self-organisation within the team.
  • Educate and be an evangelist to the wider business around the benefits of using the Scrum mythology
  • Help the team take responsibility for their actions, working through interpersonal conflict and other team performance issues, facilitating the retrospective, and helping the team become problem solvers for themselves
  • Work with the business and the team to ensure product and sprint backlogs are maintained and provide regular reporting of key progress metrics to stakeholders.
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where impediments can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure the user story life cycle is fit for purpose
  • Stay on top of backlog refinement liaising closely with Product Owner
  • Protect the team from outside distractions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with other Scrum Masters, the System Team, and shared resources in the ART Release Planning and Inspect and Adapt ceremonies
  • Facilitates preparation and readiness for release planning and ceremonies
  • Uses normalized estimating to help the program estimate larger Features and EPICs
  • Coordinates teams’ efforts under architectural and portfolio governance, system level integration and the bi-weekly System Demo
  • Coordinates with other Scrum Masters in the Scrum of Scrums

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assure that the team follows the rules of Scrum and SAFe

  • Ensure the user story life cycle is fit for purpose

  • Track team deliveries and associated effort against plan.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Knowledge skill set around leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques (i.e.: Story Point estimating, Technical debt management, testing, Agile games, Burn-down, Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
  • Experience implementing DevOps
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: Kanban
  • Previous experience as a team lead
  • Proven experience of delivery in an agile development environment, ideally with a range of methodologies (such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.).
  • Experience of working in an off-shore development model and a multi-team delivery.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
